Animal-assisted Interventions

Relationship and mutual well-being. If set correctly following these principles, the relationship and coexistence with an animal represent not only a benefit to society but also improve multiple aspects of health and promote the value of human-animal interaction. The relationship with an animal that is based on mutual companionship, affection, and gestural communication also has characteristics that are absolutely unattainable among humans. The complete absence of competitiveness in a meeting that is free, free from prejudice, and detached from social conventions contributes to creating a sensation of absolute loyalty.

All the AAI (Animal-Assisted Interventions) we offer are the result of projects tailored to the individual participants and their realities and come to life thanks to the incredible power that encounters with animals are capable of offering, both in response to emotional and relational needs, and in response to therapeutic and rehabilitative needs.

Interventi assistiti con animali: terapia assistita con animali

Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) is a type of rehabilitative intervention designed to achieve improvement in the health and physical and emotional condition of individuals with physical, psychological, and sensory disorders. The initiation of such a program is based on the invaluable assistance that horses, donkeys, dogs, or domestic animals can offer, along with meticulous planning that establishes specific objectives, taking into account the unique needs of each individual involved. I’M Possible is ready to deploy a team of professionals with diverse skills capable of managing the complex human-animal relationship and offering you high-quality interventions conducted in an open, respectful environment focused on listening to each other.

Our audience

Children, teenagers, and young adults are the primary target audience for this activity, but setting limits is not a characteristic of ours. The opportunity is open to all. If, by leveraging the resources of the animals, you desire to embark on a therapeutic journey related to physical, cognitive, psychological, emotional, and relational areas, Animal-Assisted Therapy could become a truly rewarding experience. The donkeys and horses we will work with will be our true and precious allies during this journey. They will serve as a connecting element, providing you with the motivation to actively participate in the process, and they will facilitate the building of a therapeutic alliance among us. The animal can become another subject to traverse to help you better encounter hidden parts of yourself, giving you the opportunity to project your inner world, but also remaining an opportunity for exchange and play, constantly making our encounters very enjoyable.

Our goals

Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) can be both individual and group-based. In any case, we always prioritize the individual, which is why each intervention is structured based on the growth and change plan of each person. Together, we will design the plan that best fits your needs and outline all areas of interest into specific and functional objectives that we will appropriately share with the reference therapeutic figures. Additionally, we will ensure not to overlook the relevance of the environment in which you are involved, involving or calling upon your family and those who are important to you to participate as well.

Erica

professional educator

This type of activity is quite complex. The youngsters are engaged in a sophisticated project design, yet they are not intimidated: they have realized they can rely on a generous and detail-oriented team.

What surprised me the most? The attentive listening to the youngsters and the team’s willingness to engage and empower them as protagonists.

Maria

Mother of E.

At first, E. was very scared because a new environment full of visual and auditory stimuli disturbed her greatly. With patience and gradual exposure, the team accompanied her in getting to know herself better and understanding what scares her. Now she is much more relaxed, and I see her doing things that I would never have expected, like getting her hands dirty with soil or taking care of the hygiene of a donkey. It makes me happy to see her capable of taking care of another living being.

Interventi assistiti con animali: educazione assistita con animali

Animal-Assisted Education is a type of intervention with educational purposes designed to achieve greater awareness of one’s capabilities, to instill participants with an awareness of growth potential, and to allow them to enhance all those adaptive skills that they can then transfer to their life contexts more closely related to them. Always through the mediation of donkeys and horses, Animal-Assisted Education (AAE) can also be very useful for implementing behavioral education pathways aimed at supporting children and young people in their ability to internalize rules.

Our audience

Animal-Assisted Education (AAE) has a wide range of applications and can be employed in response to various situations such as prolonged hospitalization, institutionalization, or even the emergence of difficulties in socio-environmental adaptation. The experience can be directed towards both individual subjects and larger groups, but it is always preceded by the drafting of a program that takes into account the needs of each individual.

During this experience, we will support you in learning to activate functional and appropriate relational modalities, and we will strive to make the interaction with the animal a moment for promoting positive alternative behaviors. By observing this trusted companion as if it were a mirror, you can reflect on your emotional responses and thus discover, experiment, and train your relational skills.

Our goals

The educational processes we offer aim to achieve an increase in individual well-being and an improvement in social integration through the strengthening of elements such as self-esteem and empathy. As you spend time with the animal and during the moments of serenity that will arise, you will learn to use your sensitivity to engage with it. You will understand how to interpret the communicative signals it sends you and how to adjust your behavioral and emotional response accordingly. By starting to care for, show interest in, and a sense of protection towards this new friendly companion, you will become a more mature and responsible person. Moreover, by empathizing with it, you will also learn to see the world from its perspective.

Iva

Grandma of F.

F. has always had a big problem in managing anger.

Birillo, the companion who has shared hours and hours with her, has taught her that it is not always necessary to attack others for fear that they will hurt us. He has truly given her a lot of serenity. Thank you, Birillo!

Cristina

Teacher

With the team, we immediately shared the importance of creating a different path from the usual one that could teach children not only the WHAT but above all the HOW. Animal companions have been fundamental in this: no one like them is able to refrain from judging, and their behavioral responses have guided the children to put themselves in their shoes.

Interventi assistiti con animali: attività assistita con animali

We know how much humans can regenerate from a state of mental fatigue by exposing themselves to the natural environment and how contact with some of its elements also promotes the recovery of emotional balance. Animal-Assisted Activities, in a situation of fun, interaction, and socialization, aim primarily to give value to a correct human-animal interaction and to stimulate mutual well-being. Interventions, whether individual or group, with a psycho-relational support dimension, aim to see the encounter with the animal as an experience that improves the quality of life and is a source of knowledge and new stimuli at the sensory, emotional, affective, and cognitive levels.

Our audience

Have you ever closely observed how a donkey breathes? Or how it moves its eyes? And have you ever tried to touch the soft fur on a horse’s belly? To brush against its whiskers with your nose? If these are just some of the questions you’ve always tried to answer and if you’re curious to embark on a journey of getting to know our animal friends, Animal-Assisted Activities can certainly be an activity suitable for you. What do you do specifically? That’s the beauty of it, every time it’s like a brand new experience because the intervention comes to life by leveraging the playful, spontaneous, and natural exchange you’ll have with the animals. Come and try, it will be fantastic to discover it together!

Our goals

By prioritizing the playful and recreational aspects that arise from interacting with animals, from touching them, feeling them, and interpreting them, we organize AAA with the aim of having fun, learning to relate to, and communicate with them. Interacting with a being of another species can spontaneously release sensory and emotional stimuli that would be difficult to express otherwise. By harnessing these potentialities, the project we’ll build around you can allow you to find in the animal a new friend, to grow as an authentic person capable of caring for someone else, and to better understand yourself through the intense bond you’ll create with it.

Giulio

Father of E.

I appreciated the approach with which E. was introduced to the world not only of nature but also of animals.
She discovered many details, not least that the donkey is an excellent listener or that the horse is the perfect mirror of how we are.

Elisa

Aunt of G.

Several times I have accompanied G. to the activity and I have experienced firsthand how contact with the animal can be relaxing. G. is often nervous, angry, and irritable: with the help of the team, we managed to give him moments of tranquility and carefreeness. The horse has been truly invaluable in this.
